LNG Terminal project: AGREEMENT SIGNED WITH ENVIRONMENTAL ASSOCIATIONS

Aware of the importance of the Clipon site for the observation of animal and plant species, Dunkerque-Port, represented by Martine Bonny, Chair of the Executive Committee, and Dunkerque LNG, represented by its General Director Marc Girard, signed an agreement on 4 June 2010, in the presence of Dunkirk's Sub-Prefect Jérôme Gutton, allowing five associations permanent access to the LNG Terminal site.

- The Clipon Association, represented locally by its President Julien Boulanger;
- The Nord-Pas-de-Calais Ornithology and Nature Group, represented locally by Bernard Brill;
- The Northern France Botanical Society represented by its President Daniel Petit (not in photo);
- The National Hunting and Wildlife Bureau (Office National de la Chasse et de la Faune Sauvage) represented by Didier Donadio;
- The Nord Department Hunting Federation represented by Louis Saint Ghislain.

This first agreement will allow access to the Clipon site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It precedes the agreement which will be drawn up for the Terminal's period of operation.
The signing of the agreement follows the prefectural order on the displacement of protected species, pursuant to Article L411-2 of the Environment Code, which was issued to Dunkerque-Port on 31 July 2009.
The order specifies the environmental conditions under which the LNG Terminal project could be carried out: early displacement of protected species, preventive and attenuating measures, compensatory measures, accompanying measures, implementation schedule, etc. The access agreement will only come into effect once Dunkerque LNG has taken the decision to carry out the LNG Terminal project.
