NEW ACCESS ROAD TO THE WESTERN PORT

NOUVELLE ROUTE D’ACCÈS AU PORT OUEST - Vignette

The new access road to the Western Port was officially opened on 15 December 2011.


The new road provides direct access from the A16 motorway to the Flanders Container Terminal, the ferry terminal and the logistics area, avoiding a congested roundabout and a level crossing that is not grade-separated. It also allows intercity traffic to flow much more freely. With Dunkerque-Port as the contracting authority, and costing nearly 10 M€, the operation was 80% funded by Dunkerque-Port, 10% by Dunkirk Urban Community and 10% by the European Union / TEN-T.
