DUNKIRK HOSTS 13TH NATIONAL COASTAL AND CIVIL ENGINEERING CONFERENCE
13rd june 2014

DUNKERQUE ACCUEILLE LA 13ème ÉDITION DES JOURNÉES NATIONALES GÉNIE CÔTIER - GÉNIE CIVIL

For its 13th edition, the Centre Français du Littoral CFL (French Coastal Centre) has chosen Dunkirk to host the National Coastal and Civil Engineering Conference which will be held at the Kursaal Centre from 2 to 4 July. For the organisation of these days, Grand Port Maritime de Dunkerque has joined forces with CFL, together with the Opal Coast University ULCO.

CFL, an independent science and technology organisation, is concerned with the coast in its broadest sense, including scientific study, protection, development, enhancement and the development of its resources. Its president is Daniel Levacher, Professor at the University of Caen.

CFL is active in promoting discussion and consultation, and since the early 1990s it has organised, every two years, the National Coastal and Civil Engineering Conference (JNGCGC), which has become an unmissable international event for specialists and experts in these fields.

The 2014 Coastal and Civil Engineering Conference will address topics such as coastal dynamics, coastal risks, marine energies and resources, port structures and the management of coastal environments. These subjects are especially important as they are at the centre of both national and local news (the storms at the beginning of the year reminded us of the devastating power of the sea over infrastructures as well as over the natural environment).

Many operators from various backgrounds, both local and international, will be present. Already more than 150 contributions have been received from French and foreign speakers.

The scientific community, government departments, local and regional authorities, businesses and associations are all invited to this event.
