THE DLI-SUD PLATFORM: 145-HECTARE LOGISTICSPARK TO OPEN SOON

On 7 April 2015 Dunkerque-Port was granted the local authority decree on Protected Species. This decree, a crucial step in the regulatory process for all development projects, authorises the development of the DLI-Sud (Dunkerque Logistique International Sud) logistics platform in the Loon-Plage district of the Western Port.

The DLI-Sud project involves the development, by Dunkerque-Port, of a multimodal platform to host logistics businesses. It will cover an area of 145.7 hectares and will be provided with road and rail links to meet the demands of industrialists in the sector.

This project has been the focus of considerable attention in the implementation of the environmental doctrine to «Avoid, Reduce and Offset», making it a showcase for the Port’s know-how in the sustainable development of the Industrial Port Area. Almost 9 ha of existing natural environments that are home to some remarkable fauna and flora have been protected by a redesign of the project in terms of sustainability.

Outside the area, nearly 30 hectares of diversified habitats will be recreated, including wetlands, meadows and woodlands, favourable to a wide range of plant and animal species.

The signing of the Protected Species decree marks a key stage in the development process of the DLI-Sud logistics platform. The public enquiry in progress will complete the project’s administrative approval procedure and lead to the issuance of the «Water Law» decree which should allow the development works to start at the beginning of 2016.

This means that nearly 145 hectares will be ready to host new logistics and industrial installations during 2016.
