On 27 June 2017 Dunkirk's LNG Terminal and Dunkerque-Port, convinced of the role that LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) will play in reducing greenhouse gases, signed an agreement for the development of an LNG station to supply tank trucks.

The use of LNG by shipping has grown significantly in recent months with new projects (orders for ships, LNG supply stations, etc). A month after signing the agreement, Dunkerque LNG and Total Marine Fuels Global Solutions (TMFGS) announced that they would supply LNG to the "Honfleur", the first French ferry running on LNG, which will ply between Ouistreham and Portsmouth as of 2019. TMFGS, the entity of the TOTAL Group in charge of marketing marine fuels, has joined forces with two other French companies to set up an innovative supply chain for LNG provisioning using ISO containers(movable storage tanks, complying with the specific standards for the transport of liquids in bulk).

CEO Stéphane Raison welcomed this announcement: "Dunkerque-Port has supported this innovative sector for many years, and is now working with Dunkerque LNG and TOTAL in their undertaking to build and then operate the supply station as part of a larger project to set up an LNG provisioning service by land and sea in the port of Dunkirk, so making LNG available on the market."
