On Thursday, February 28 and Friday  March 1, in conjunction with the LEMAIRE shipping agency, DT Project and forwarding agent, and port handler BARRA SNM, Dunkerque-Port welcomed the ABB VANESSA carrying heavy-lift cargo for the RENAULT factory in MAUBEUGE (MCA - Maubeuge Construction Automobile). The factory has been producing the Kangoo range on an exclusive basis since 1997.

The various parts of the new-generation stamping press from the Hyundai Rotem firm in South Korea are part of the major investment that Groupe Renault is making to produce the future Kangoo family at MCA. In all, more than 2,600 tons of goods will be unloaded via Dock 6 in the East Port of Dunkerque, for delivery to the Maubeuge site, by river for packages over 100 tons and by road for the rest.

Stéphane Raison, President of the Executive Board of Dunkerque-Port, was delighted with the operation: "Carrying out such a unique project illustrates the know-how of Dunkerque-Port providers in handling off-specification cargo or of exceptional size."
