  • Tramp vessel

    Vessel chartered either for a particular trip or for a stipulated period. 

  • Trip-charter

    Or Voyage charter: Vessel charter party for one or a specified number of trips.

  • Turning / Swinging

    CURSORTurning basin: Area of water large enough to allow vessels to turn.

  • Under-Tackle

    Term stipulating delivery of the goods within reach of the ship's tackle.

  • Weight / Measurement

    Tariff unit for assessing freight rate to the benefit of the ship. Metric ton or cubic meter. Sometimes "ad valorem" for some valuable goods.

  • Wet dock

    Constant-level basin reached via a lock.

  • Wharf

    Storage yard between two docks.
