The port of Dunkirk wants to provide logistics and industrial businesses with a new area for their operations in the Western Port area: DLI Sud (Dunkerque Logistique International Sud).
The famous shortsea maritime operator MacAndrews, a subsidiary of the CMA CGM Group, has chosen Dunkirk for a new service to and from Portugal, calling twice weekly as of Saturday 27 April 2013.
Signed in February 2005 and renewed in 2009, the Progress Contract between Dunkerque-Port, the Maritime and Commercial Union and French Waterways reports signifi cant results, in line with its goal of promoting the development of waterway transport to and from the port of Dunkirk.
56-year-old Yves Lalaut, a Government Public Works Divisional Engineer and PhD in Sedimentology, was appointed as Planning and Environment Director of Dunkerque-Port on 1 December 2012.
The total volume for all types of traffic was 47.22 MT at the end of December, a very small drop of 0.6% compared with 2011.
