As of Monday 16 April 2012 the maritime operator MacAndrews, a subsidiary of the CMA CGM Group, will offer a call at Dunkirk every week on its route to Portugal.

MacAndrews, a door-to-door maritime operator providing integrated solutions, is setting up a weekly container shipping link, on fixed days, between the Port of Dunkirk and the ports of Leixoes and Lisbon.

The Spanish region of Galicia may also be served via the port of Leixoes. The transit times from Dunkirk to Portugal will be 4 days to Lisbon and 6 days to Leixoes.

MacAndrews has a fleet of 20’ and 40’ high cube and pallet-wide containers, as well as 45’ high cube, pallet-wide, dry and reefer containers.

In Dunkirk the shipping company will be represented by the CMA CGM agency.

Christine Cabau Woehrel, recently appointed as Chair of Dunkerque-Port's Executive Committee, is delighted with this decision and praised the efforts made by the port communities of Dunkirk, Lisbon and Leixoes. "This decision is fully in line with the development strategy of the Port of Dunkirk as regards the diversification of our short-sea shipping lines as a complement to the major east-west and north-south routes," said the new Chair.

Guy Adams, MacAndrews' General Manager for Northern Europe, comments: "I expect considerable take-up of this new line which offers clients in the Nord-Pas de Calais region and the border area of Belgium the opportunity of using alternative transport modes, which is fully in line with the Grenelle Environment Law. We are very pleased to promote this new service which allows us to broaden our offer, proposing a wide range of equipment."
