PLUS DE 3,7 MILLIARDS D'EUROS DE VALEUR AJOUTÉE GÉNÉRÉE PAR LE PORT DE DUNKERQUE

As it does each year, the Northern France region CCI has published an analysis of the added value generated by the Port of Dunkirk.

3.7 billion Euros was generated in 2013, an increase of 0.4% over 2012. This is an encouraging performance in a difficult wider context which has led to a fall in traffic and some job losses.

24,007 jobs depend on the Port of Dunkirk, 5,467 of them directly and 18,540 indirectly. Investment in 2013 was 47 million Euros, higher than the average of the last ten years. This should remain steady thanks to the development plan for the port, particularly in the west.

Of the port's different traffic types, this issue focuses on logistics which is the fastest-growing sector, particularly in fruit and vegetables. While certain ports of the North Sea range have experienced a significant drop in fruit and vegetable traffic, Dunkirk has practically doubled its volumes in ten years. As indicated by the director of Conhexa, this increase is due to the excellent position of the Port of Dunkirk which has remained highly competitive. This trend should continue in coming years, generating ever more added value for the Dunkirk area.
