THE PORTS OF DUNKIRK AND NANTES SAINT-NAZAIRE IN THE ANTILLES

A joint delegation from the Ports of Dunkirk and Nantes Saint-Nazaire, led by their two CEOs, visited Martinique and Guadeloupe from 7 to 13 January 2016.

Two special events were held, in Guadeloupe on 8 January and in Martinique on 12 January, for clients in the region, local port authorities, shippers, forwarding agents and shipping companies, banana producers' associations, and other contacts.

The aim of this first joint initiative by the two ports was to promote the North Sea port for imports and the Atlantic port for exports. Besides these two events, the visit was also an opportunity for both ports to meet their many respective clients and strengthen long-standing links.

This is the first time such an initiative has been taken, and it was welcomed by the many economic stakeholders present. The two French mainland ports have forged extremely strong links with the islands of Martinique and Guadeloupe. Representatives from the shipping company CMA CGM also accompanied the delegation, emphasising the quality of services between continental France and the two islands.
