In terms of port logistics, activity is intense in the Port of Dunkerque. While the warehouses located in the port precinct totalled an area of approximately 150,000 sq. m in 2021, nearly 400,000 sq. m of new warehouses are currently planned or under construction in the Dunkerque Logistique Internationale (DLI) zone, a turnkey site with "Choose France" accreditation.

One of these logistics programmes involves that of the Société de Développement Axe Nord (SDAN), which has two large-scale projects, one of which covers an area of 9 hectares in the vast DLI zone. The construction of a warehouse with 43,770 sq. m of floor space as a speculative development is under way with 6 storage cells and 1,380 sq. m of office space. The project was inaugurated on Monday, 7 November 2022.

Other leading international logistics players have already committed to projects complementing the planned occupation of this new logistics zone, including Krown Logistics, Warehouse De Pauw (WDP), Ziegler and Heylen Warehouse, marking the attractiveness of the industrial port precinct of Dunkerque and its development potential.

Over and above the current and future investments for the maritime and multimodal logistics development of the Port of Dunkerque, in particular around its container terminal, the energy and industrial transition of Dunkerque and the surrounding area in the Hauts-de-France region enhances the attractiveness of the Port of Dunkerque with its immediate proximity to the gateways for international trade.

Maurice GEORGES, Chairman of the Executive Board of Dunkerque-Port, stated:"I would like to thank Clément BEAUNE, Minister Delegate in charge of Transport for his participation in this high point for Dunkerque-Port, which acts as a major stakeholder in the expansion of the surrounding region through its role as a developer and facilitator in setting up operations for companies in the port precinct" .

For Patrice VERGRIETE, President of the Dunkerque Metropolitan Authority: “I am extremely pleased to welcome Clément BEAUNE, Minister Delegate in charge of Transport in Dunkerque today. I am proud to have been able to show how the entire region is changing so quickly. As a site for the large-scale production of energy, our coastline is also an asset in attracting major industrial projects. For the hydrogen sector, the electric battery sector and many others, our energy mix, carbon-free heating network and accessibility via the port attract and appeal to them all”.
