Rungis Market & Dunkerque-Port join forces to create a European-scale agri-logistics hub
On 8 July 2026, Maurice GEORGES, Chairman of the Executive Board of Dunkerque-Port, and Stéphane LAYANI, Chairman of the Rungis International Market, signed a partnership agreement in the presence of Frédéric LOISEAU, Sub-Prefect of Dunkirk, and Patrice VERGRIETE, Chairman of the Dunkirk Urban Community and Mayor of Dunkirk.
This partnership aims to strengthen ties between France’s leading agri-food port and the world’s largest fresh produce market. It forms part of a shared ambition: to ensure a sustainable supply chain, to promote the transit and processing of goods through French ports, and to reduce dependence on foreign ports.
A future Rungis-Dunkirk agri-logistics hub
This cooperation will notably result in the creation of a Rungis-Dunkirk agri-logistics hub, dedicated to the logistics, processing and value-adding of food products.
Located within the Dunkirk International Logistics Zone, which holds the ‘Choose France’ label, this future hub will benefit from its immediate proximity to container and cross-Channel terminals. It will thus benefit from a strategic location at the heart of major maritime trade flows.
This project draws on the substantial land reserves of Dunkirk-Port, the recognised expertise of both platforms and an ecosystem already firmly established in Dunkirk, with the presence of leading logistics operators in the agri-food sector.
Enhancing the performance, resilience and decarbonisation of supply chains
Beyond its economic and logistical benefits, this partnership reflects a shared ambition: to build a more efficient, resilient and sustainable agri-food supply chain.
The agreement is structured around four key areas of cooperation:
- establishing a world-class agri-food logistics hub;
- optimising operational efficiency and traceability;
- accelerating the decarbonisation of transport;
- integrating Dunkirk and Rungis into an international network of agri-food hubs.
In particular, the partnership plans to explore the development of a direct rail link between the port of Dunkirk and the Rungis Market, with a view to promoting shorter, lower-emission supply chains.

For Dunkerque-Port, this alliance reinforces the region’s role as a major hub for agri-food trade in France and Europe. It will help to boost the added value generated at the port whilst facilitating access to the French market and key European markets.
