DUNKERQUE-PORT PHOTO EXHIBITION AT NAMUR ARSENAL, BELGIUM

From 10 May to 15 June 2012, an itinerant photo exhibition dedicated to the Port of Dunkirk will be on display in the Namur Arsenal (Salle Mazarin). The event is taking place in collaboration with the Port Authority and the City of Namur, in the context of the partnerships between the ports and their excellent commercial and industrial relations.

Before coming to Namur the exhibition, entitled "Arrêt sur Images", was shown in Lille and Dunkirk in France; it then arrived in Belgium with a first call in Liège before moving on to Charleroi. After this it will go to Mons before the summer, and then return to France.

The exhibition, created and designed by the communications department of Dunkerque-Port, comprises 100 pictures taken by 11 photographers (Manuel Baheux, Jean-Louis Burnod, Bernard Cartiaux, Didier Carette, Michel Guilbert, Maël Kernéis, Emmanuel Leconte, Laurent Mayeux, Christian Merlen, Sébastien Miserole and Sébastien Tomyn). These photos are the work of artists, and show a firm commitment to the aesthetic. The aim is to present the work of photographers with very varied careers who regularly come and photograph life in the port of Dunkirk, and to reveal the unpublished pictures of an aerial photography specialist, a tethered balloon expert, and photographers on the ground with radically differing and complementary outlooks. Visitors to the exhibition will discover the port as it really is, the port from a different angle, and also the port of today prefiguring the port of tomorrow... Operators, cargoes, the port at night and through the seasons, environmental aspects, the place of the port in the city: these virtuosos have captured everything.
