On Friday 9 April, the MV “Ark Dania”, owned by the Danish company DFDS SEAWAYS, made its first port call to Dunkerque-Port en route from Rosslare (Ireland). The RoRo-type vessel has a large capacity (190 freight units including 12 cabins and 400 places for the transport of new cars). It will call at Dunkerque every Friday and Tuesday and will help develop the traffic of unaccompanied trailers.

Its arrival confirms the success of the ferry link, launched on January 2 with 3 ships. The fourth unit means the frequency of port calls has been stepped up to 8 weekly arrivals and departures.

The "Ark Dania" completes the fleet on the Dunkerque-Rosslare route, alongside the ships "Visby", "Kerry" and "Pelagos".

The route provides carriers and shippers with a direct, document-free journey for lorries between the Republic of Ireland and other countries of the European Union, implying less waiting times as well as the possibility of avoiding the customs procedures which now apply to transport via the British "landbridge".

European carriers are responding very favourably to this new post-BREXIT offer tailored to meet their needs: between the first port call to Dunkerque on January 2 and the beginning of March, the service totaled no less than 10,000 units transported.
