On 12 March 2020, the French government took a series of major health measures to counter the spread of COVID-19 in the country. These measures include in particular avoiding contact between people as much as possible.
Against this background, Dunkerque-Port services (ship services, harbour master's office, rail and river services, etc.) are fully operational and fully mobilized. Measures have been taken to ensure the continuation of our customers' business activities while preserving the health of our employees.
The share of alternative modes to road, traditionally above 50%, has reached a new milestone with the boom in pipeline traffic. That market share now represents 65%.
On Wednesday, March 4, the Port of Dunkirk, together with the companies BARRA SNM (logistics), LEMAIRE (shipping agency) and AUGIZEAU (exceptional transport), welcomed to Freycinet 12 the EEMS DUBLIN, a ship transporting a first batch of nine wind turbine blades, each measuring almost 70 meters in length.
As part of the third “Choose France!" summit meeting which began on 20 January in Versailles, Secretary of State Agnès Pannier-Runacher disclosed the names of twelve" turnkey" industrial sites (sites that can host industrial activities and for which the administrative procedures concerning urban planning, rescue archaeology and the environment have been carried out in advance in order to offer the investor immediate or short-term availability). The list was presented to the executives of the international groups attending the “Choose France!" summit. One of the sites, selected following a call for applications launched by the French government in November 2019 for the regional and local authorities, is the Heavy Industry Zone (ZGI) development platform of Dunkerque-Port.
